Hey, meet Luna! She’s absolutely in love with Lolita’s Rainy Day! How do I know? Well, let me tell you!

Earlier this week, three-year-old Luna came to my house with her mom, Jamillah, for a long-overdue visit.

While we were enjoying our time together and talking about Luna’s developments, Luna walked around the house getting reacquainted with her surroundings. Every so often, we would hear a giggle, which meant she was hiding somewhere, waiting to be discovered in her new hiding space.

When things got quiet for a very short time, Jamillah and I suddenly heard Luna scream with much excitement, “This is the book about money!” Jamillah ran over to my office, where she found Luna tightly hugging the display copy of Lolita’s Rainy Day she had found on my desk.

It was such a special moment for me because this is the reaction I’ve always hoped children would have with Lolita’s Rainy Day!

Her mother explained to me that Luna keeps her copy on the bottom front shelf of her bookcase. She often asks her mom to read it to her. Even better, I also observed Luna flipping through the pages, pretending to be reading it.

What I witnessed and experienced is that Luna now understands and appreciates the concept of money. Jamillah even told me that Luna loves counting and saving the coins she earns.

Thank you, Jamillah, for introducing Luna to Lolita’s Rainy Day, but even more, for encouraging financial literacy in your home.

And, Luna, thank you for being so spunky, inquisitive and money-$mart…and a big little fan!
